What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It

All information is listed so that all areas are covered for the safety and protection of ourselves and for our visitors. Some areas below may contain information that may not currently on this site. Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website. All media that you upload should be your property or property that is used with permissions granted. 

Contact forms:

Personal data is captured when you submit a contact form. We keep this information for as long as necessary in our private records. We do not use the information submitted for outside marketing purposes.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to save your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

We also use private information for the technical infrastructure of this site for hosting and data transfer purposes. 

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

How we protect your data: 

Through technical measures, we do all that we can technically do to protect your information. With that being said, please note that no website is ever 100% secure. It is imperative that you keep your login credentials to yourself, choose a strong password and use the site on your own personal device.

What data breach procedures we have in place:

Please contact the Admin immediately. If there is a data breach, we will take immediate action to resolve the issue, if the issue has been detected to come from this site as the source.  Do not destroy or delete any evidence involving the security breach if this involves you.  We may need to contact you for further details regarding the incident in order to resolve the matter. We will quickly secure the system and repair any vulnerabilities. In a case where we may need to change your password, we will inform you of such action and the reason why. IIn addition, it may be necessary to shut the site down temporarily, in order to resolve any issues that result from a security breach in order to not only protect you but also other members and the site staff.  If necessary, we will consult with technical support and/or legal counsel. Please also note that if the security breach has been caused by a third party – for examples, someone hacked into your device through your internet provider, email, browser, app, or otherwise, you will need to take measures to secure and protect those avenues as well.

We receive third-party information from websites that provide us with analytical details, in order to improve the security of the site and improve its user-friendliness. More details above under “Analytics”.
